The art of alchemy!

The art of alchemy!

The sciences of modern pharmacy and medicine are based on the natural research of alchemists, among whom Paracelsus was one. When Paracelsus began his work, alchemical knowledge was already being practiced in Egypt, China, and India. Paracelsus was the first to document his research findings. Before Paracelsus, alchemical knowledge was passed on in an encrypted language within the guild or even only orally to selected successors. Allowing outsiders access was forbidden under penalty of law.

At the same time, knowledge of the healing powers of herbs and plants and how to enhance their effectiveness has been cultivated and passed on in folk medicine for centuries.

Even during his lifetime, Paracelsus enjoyed high esteem among his patients, and his healing successes underscored this. Paracelsus was far ahead of his time: physician, philosopher, visionary thinker, and natural scientist.

"Medicinal plants can relieve pain, work reliably, and have few side effects. They can help alone or complement chemical remedies."

The production of our Duschlbaur's tinctures is complex. The hand-picked and cleaned medicinal plants are crushed, then mixed with double-distilled spring water and pure alcohol in a glass container, and then infused for at least 12 weeks. Daily manual shaking promotes the leaching process. The resulting macerate is then separated from the plant components. The medicinal plant residues are gently pressed and then burned in a kiln. The two- to ten-day kiln-burning of the medicinal herbs burns off all the plant's organic components. This process is called calcination .

After calcination (ashing), only the plant's valuable mineral salts remain. These valuable mineral salts are then added back to the resulting tincture. According to Paracelsus, the most important principle of alchemical medicinal preparation is "to separate" (Greek "spao" = I dissolve, I separate) and "to reconnect" ("ageiro" = I join, I unite). The medicinal plant is broken down into its individual components, freed from toxins through the manufacturing process, and reunited to the highest purity.

This careful and time-consuming preparation allows for the production of effective, high-quality remedies. Nature is never in a hurry. And neither are we. Nature sets the pace for us, and we are grateful to be able to harness this rhythm for the benefit of our collective health.

“The remedy is not what you see – it lies bound in the liquid.” Paracelsus (1493 – 1541)
