“Kind-hearted” herbal power
Whatever your heart desires!
Our cardiovascular system works every day to keep our body moving, adjust our blood pressure to the demands of everyday life, and provide us with sufficient energy. To keep it that way, it's important to pay attention to your heart in a timely manner.
Our heart muscle tirelessly pumps blood throughout our body. As we age, the strength of the heart muscle, and thus our heart's power, decreases.
There are many things you can do to stimulate and strengthen your cardiovascular system.
Do you find it difficult to get up in the morning? Are you lying down, and is your blood pressure also low? A contrast shower can help! The most well-known contrast shower technique is Kneipp's. A distinction is made between classic Kneipp showers and Kneipp contrast showers.
These alternating warm-cold stimuli have a positive effect on the heart, circulatory system, and immune system. Blood vessels are alternately constricted and dilated.
Alternating showers!
- Contrast showers begin with pleasantly warm to hot water.
- Then turn the temperature to cool to cold.
- Always start at the point farthest from your heart, the right outer foot. From the right outer foot, shower down to your hip and back down the inner thigh.
- Repeat this with the left leg.
- Then direct the stream from the back of the right hand to the shoulder. From the armpit, radiate back down the inner arm to the palm of the hand.
Alternating hot/cold showers should be performed twice. You decide what works for you! In any case, the alternating shower should always end with the cold shower. The colder water constricts the blood vessels. After the alternating shower, change into appropriate clothing to warm up.
Not a fan of cold showers? You can also get your circulation going with a rosemary wash. Mix 1 tablespoon of sea salt with 3 drops of rosemary essential oil and dissolve them in warm water. Fill the sink with cooler water and pour in the rosemary-salt mixture. Wash with a washcloth. Always start at your feet and end with your upper body. You'll feel the invigorating effect.
Movement!
Generally speaking, regular exercise in the fresh air is good for your heart. Whether you do it slowly, moderately, or vigorously isn't so important. Any step is better than none! Exercise is a helpful way to lower cholesterol.
Nutrition – twice a week fish protects!
Andrew Mente and his team from the Population Health Research Institute at McMaster University in Canada re-evaluated clinical trials with 191,558 participants from four international studies. They wanted to isolate the influence of fish consumption on the incidence of cardiovascular disease, specifically fish consumption through diet rather than through the use of fish oil capsules. A reduced risk of further cardiovascular disease was demonstrated for study participants who consumed fish. The study found that just two weekly fish meals (175 to 350 grams per week) reduced the risk of another cardiovascular event by 14%. Even higher fish consumption did not produce a greater effect.
To lower cholesterol levels naturally, a complete avoidance of foods high in fat and cholesterol is not necessary. However, the quality of the fatty acids consumed is important. Polyunsaturated fatty acids have a positive effect on cholesterol levels. Unfortunately, our bodies cannot produce polyunsaturated fatty acids themselves. These can only be obtained through high-quality foods, such as selected vegetable oils, nuts, or wild fish. Targeted vegetable oils are linseed oils, Camelina yolk oils , Sunflower oils from the high-oleic sunflower or purely organic nut oils .
