The natural ingredients of theWild Teasel Tincture Dropsare: water, alcohol, wild cardoon.
We use the root to produce these very valuable drops.
Over the past 2,000 years, wild teasel tincture has spread throughout Europe, Asia, and North Africa without human intervention. It thrives on flat, hilly land up to 800 meters above sea level. It is often found on clayey fallow land, abandoned agricultural land, and riverbanks. Wild teasel is popular with bumblebees, bees, and butterflies.
The wild teasel belongs to the honeysuckle family (Caprifoliaceae). The genus "dipsacus" includes around 20 different species.
The wild teasel grows upright and herbaceous, reaching up to 2 meters tall. The plant protects itself against natural predators with sharp spines. Tiny, blue-violet flowers sit on cone-shaped, 5 to 8 cm long flower heads. The inflorescences are surrounded by arched, ascending, narrow bracts. When ripe, the flowers transform into inflorescences. These produce dark nuts. Each nut contains only one seed. A single wild teasel can produce up to 2,000 seeds. Its yellowish-white teasel roots, which can grow up to 40 cm long, are striking.
