Valeriana officinalis drops - The natural ingredients ofValerian tincture dropsare: water, alcohol, valerian.
To produce these very valuable drops we use the plant with flowers.
In ancient times, valerian was considered an aphrodisiac. The superstition "If you put valerian in your mouth and kiss someone, they will immediately fall in love with you" is just one reason for valerian's firmly established use. Besides its romantic aspect, valerian also helps in practical ways: earthworms coated with valerian bring a fisherman a rich catch, and valerian placed in a beehive attracts bee colonies.
There are over 350 species of valerian worldwide. Valerian thrives throughout Europe, along stream banks, in damp meadows, and on forest edges. It was cultivated in cottage gardens not only for its delicate and lovely appearance. The valerian plant aerates the soil, attracts earthworms, and thus promotes the growth of vegetables and other plants.
In spring, odd-pinnate leaves form, from which 2-meter-tall stems shoot out by summer. Several pink, airy, fragrant umbels grow from each stem. Opinions differ on the scent of valerian flowers: it's either delicate and pleasant, or—especially in the rain—rather offensive. The only thing that cats agree on is that cats love the scent of valerian and are absolutely crazy about it. Please keep this in mind if you want to dry valerian and there are cats nearby. Otherwise, contamination cannot be ruled out.
