The natural ingredients of theYarrow tincture dropsare: water, alcohol, yarrow.
To produce these very valuable drops we use the herb with the flower.
Yarrow pollen was found in a 49,000-year-old grave in a cave in present-day Iraq. During excavations in the Shanidar Cave, Neanderthal remains were discovered alongside yarrow plant remains.
Yarrow has its place not only in the world of research and discovery. In the mythical landscape, Achilles invaded Mysia on his way to Troy. In battle, he injured King Thelephus in the thigh. He healed the wound with a medicinal plant later given the name "achillea millefolium."
The German name "Schafgarbe" (yarrow) comes from Middle High German. Shepherds fed yarrow to sick sheep—"to heal sheep."
The perennial, hardy yarrow belongs to the daisy family (Compositae). Its distinctive features include its height of up to 1.4 meters and a root system extending up to one meter. In spring, the rootstock produces a rosette of leaves. From this, a tough, pithy stem sprouts.
During its flowering period from late May to mid-October, yarrow forms umbels of numerous small, white, occasionally slightly pinkish flower heads. Their pleasantly sweet fragrance attracts bees and butterflies. After pollination, winged, yellowish-gray fruits with brownish seeds form.
