We use the root to produce these very valuable drops.
The renowned botanist C.A. Meyer, director of the Imperial Gardens at the Tsar's court in St. Petersburg, gave ginseng the botanical name "panax ginseng." The Greek words "pana" and "axos" translate to "all" and "remedy." This has given rise to other laudatory names: "herb of eternal youth" or "food of immortality." The perennial ginseng plant can live for over 100 years.
Important ginseng growing areas are in Korea, China, Vietnam, Russia and Japan.
Korean ginseng is a plant up to 80 cm tall with a round stem and usually four-stalked, five-fingered leaves. The flowers are whitish-green and occur in up to 30 umbels. Pea-sized, spherical, scarlet, shiny berries develop from the ovaries, each containing two seeds. The spindle-shaped root is responsible for its mythical veneration: the split tip resembles the shape of a human.
